With a aim of promoting animal welfare to the general public, CARE volunteers supported the “Animal Rescue On-The-Go” community outreach programme organised by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) held at two weekends in April and May.
A total of 40 CARE volunteers took part in the programme as event helpers at the Mills located in Tsuen Wan on 29, 30 April and 27, 28 May 2023. Apart from supporting the game booths showcasing the animal rescue work of SPCA, CARE volunteers also acted as ambassadors of SPCA at the event, introducing and promoting the Spay and Neuter Vehicle (SNV). The SNV is a mobile surgery vehicle that provides low cost sterilisation services for dogs and cats in remote areas in Hong Kong, with the aim of reducing the number of stray animals in the New Territories and outlying islands. CARE volunteers found the event meaningful as it helped promote responsible pet ownership and animal welfare concepts to the public.
