The annual retreat is always an eagerly anticipated event for colleagues in the Corporate Affairs Division. This year, embracing the spirit of community service, the Division’s management team led 60 colleagues to become CARE@hkjc volunteers on 29 August, spreading love and care through animal services and elderly visits.
On that day, the team divided into two groups. 20 colleagues participated in a pet toy DIY workshop organised in collaboration with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). The workshop aimed to create toys for abandoned animals using recycled materials, promoting their physical and mental well-being and preparing them for adoption. After completing the workshop, participants had the opportunity to visit the SPCA adoption centre and interact with the adorable cats and dogs, enjoying joyful moments with them using the DIY toys. Meanwhile, those who joined the elderly visit in collaboration with the Caritas Cheng Shing Fung District Elderly Centre (Sham Shui Po) paired up in groups of two and served around 100 singleton elderly in the Sham Shui Po district. During the visit, they distributed goodie bags to the elderly, which included low-sugar mooncakes, Chinese tea bags, rice vermicelli, crackers, and fruits, showing care for their well-being and delivering festive blessings.
This meaningful retreat provided the team with profound inspiration for personal growth, team building, and corporate social responsibility. The event not only showcased the power of empathy but also reminded us to continue moving forward with knowledge and a caring spirit. By utilising our abilities to help those in need and contribute to a harmonious society, we can make a positive impact.
