To celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Club and the 30th anniversary of the Tuen Mun Public Riding School (“TMPRS”), an open day was held at TMPRS on 10 November 2024, attracting over 5,500 visitors. This event allowed participants to learn about the daily operations of the riding school and to experience equestrian virtual reality, promoting community appreciation and understanding of equestrian sports.
About 40 members of the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team supported the event. They were divided into three groups to assist in various roles, aiming to provide participants with an unforgettable and enjoyable equestrian experience.
The Open Day featured a range of activities, including pony rides, stable visits, horse simulator experiences, photo opportunities with mini ponies, and equestrian demonstrations by the Club’s Youth and Para squads. Additionally, there were fun game booths and exciting activities co-organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Throughout these activities, the CARE volunteers provided onsite logistic support and managed crowd control to ensure the event ran smoothly.
The Festive Squad of the CARE Team made its debut by setting up a booth game called "Throwing for Fun," which received enthusiastic support from participants. In this game, each participant threw balls into a grid-shaped hoop, aiming for the numbers “1,” “4,” and “0” to win. This allowed everyone to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Club together. Many children eagerly engaged in this game under the supervision of their parents, and their focused and adorable expressions brought smiles to the volunteers and other visitors.
Additionally, the CARE Painters adorned participants' faces and hands with colorful designs of horses, horseshoes, rainbow bracelets, and gradient flowers, adding vibrancy to the event. The talent of the CARE Painters was well recognised by the visitors.
The Club hopes that the Open Day will enhance the community's understanding and appreciation of equestrian sports. As part of the celebration, the Open Day not only showcased the charm of equestrianism but also strengthened the bond between the community and the Club.
