‘Peak to Fong 2024’, a wonderful get-together of dog lovers and their furry companions organised by Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR), was held on 24 November 2024. This major annual event of HKDR kicked off at the Peak with a sponsored walk to Lan Kwai Fong. All funds raised during this remarkable day went directly towards HKDR's operating costs and the medical expenses of more than 600 dogs in their care, helping local abandoned dogs.
The CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team has always been devoted to animal rights and welfare. More than 40 volunteers were mobilised to contribute to this meaningful event along the charity walk route. Their roles included providing guidance, assisting in traffic management and overseeing "dog water stations" to ensure the smooth progress of the event. Despite the drizzling rain and windy condition in the morning, the weather did little to dampen the collective resolve of our volunteers, who were ready to lend their support and cheer on participants and their furry companions. The spirit of compassion shone brightly throughout the day as participants and their dogs enjoyed the walk, sharing in the joy of the event.
At the end of the walk, a street party in Lan Kwai Fong celebrated the completion of the journey from the Peak. It included a variety of exciting programmes, including busking performances, charity sales, and themed booths, creating an enjoyable day for dog lovers and their furry buddies.
*HKDR has been established for 21 years with the specific purpose of saving dogs, which has rescued, cared for and re-homed more than 10,000 dogs and puppies, with 6,000 dogs finding homes. It is a No Kill Organisation, meaning that no dog under its care will be euthanised unless it is the only humane option.
