The St James’ Settlement up-cycling programme brings together designers, material suppliers and disabled members of SJS who work together as a team to up-cycle old and discarded waste into something useful and beautiful. The project began in 2009, and to coincide with SJS moving to their new headquarters on Kennedy Road in 2013, the Club donated HK$11.4 million from its Environment Project to expand the scale of the project, including the provision of proper facilities and programme support. The St James’ Settlement Up-Cycling Centre now offers a total solution for up-cycling that not only helps SJS members to make good use of their skills, but also contributes to protecting the environment.
