The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s long-standing support for the development of medical and health services dates back to the 1950s, and since then over HK$7.5 billion has been donated to various medical and health projects in Hong Kong. To meet the ever-rising demand for medical services in the Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing districts, the Club’s Charities Trust has donated HK$84 million to Yan Chai Hospital to redevelop four hospital blocks into a 12-storey health center (including the basement) and other supporting facilities to improve medical services and the hospital environment.
The new centre provides a wide range of integrated medical services under one roof. Key facilities and services under the Jockey Club umbrella are the Health Resources Centre; Multi-rehabilitation Services; Community Nursing Service; General Practice Clinic and Family Medicine Specialist Clinic; Medical, Surgical, Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Gynaecology and Ophthalmology Specialist Outpatient Clinics, as well as Paediatrics and the Adolescent Ambulatory Centre. The centre is expected to benefit over 300,000 people a year, particularly the elderly and low-income families, which will improve the overall well-being of the community.
