The Club has donated over $270 million to the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine to establish and operate The Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute in Hong Kong. The Institute is being set up in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, with support from international experts particularly from the University of Oxford and Harvard University. The aims of the Institute are to develop leaders and train professionals, NGO practitioners, teachers and the general public in disaster preparedness and response; to develop Hong Kong into an international and regional hub for disaster preparedness and response training; and to enhance total community resilience.
