The Club donated HK$500 million in 2003 to set up the Centre for Health Protection in order to help the Government find longer-term solutions to disease control.

In early 2003, the SARS outbreak dealt a devastating blow to Hong Kong. The Club-funded Centre for Health Protection, which opened the following year, is Hong Kong’s first facility dedicated solely to the prevention and control of infectious diseases.
