Make this a Green X’mas!

Christmas is coming, but the weather is still quite warm sometimes! So when getting ready for Christmas shopping or a party, keep in mind that your extra spending brings with it increased carbon emissions, which is one of the main causes of environmental and climate change. Take a look at some tips and tricks on how to reduce your Christmas carbon footprint. Let’s each take a small step this year and give ourselves and the next generation a real Christmas present!

Gifts and new clothes increase carbon emissions and so do all the wrapping and transporting.
Contribute your money to a good cause by donating to charity instead.

Know your party guest list and don’t throw away leftovers.
Try a veggie meal, buying local is the best deal!

Reuse your Christmas decorations year after year.
No room to store them? Why not recycle them?

Travelling overseas uses lots of energy; so consider switching to local holiday tours.
Public transport is the way to go, walk or ride a bike – don’t say no!

It could even possibly lead to unknown diseases occurring and mosquitoes breeding more robustly, which increases the threat of transmission. Let’s listen as Professor Fung Tung, Associate Vice-President at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, shares with us some Christmas tips for protecting the environment.
